Vice President, Finance

Based at our Corporate Office in Singapore, we are looking for a passionate and energetic individual to join us as Vice President, Finance.

Job Responsibilities:

The incumbent is responsible for providing guidance to the finance teams at the hotels and serviced suites managed by Pan Pacific Hotels Group and business support to the General Managers of the properties and the Group’s management team whilst keeping a line of sight goal to develop the quality of the finance function and to improve internal control at the properties.

The Role:

1. Financial Accounting and Control

  • Provide guidance on management of the accounting records and financial reporting of all managed properties, including those owned and managed, to ensure compliance with company, owner, statutory and fiscal requirements and timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with the terms of the management agreement entered into between PPHG and the owning companies.
  • Ensure legal and tax compliance and that adequate insurance cover is maintained.
  • Ensure proper permits and licenses have been obtained for such matters as importation, currency transfers and hotel operations (public entertainment, liquor, money changer, etc.). 
  • Liaise and work with both internal and external auditors.  Ensure that follow up on corrective action arising from audit findings is promptly taken where required. 
  • Develop best practices in financial accounting processes and control procedures.

2. Management Reporting

  • Work together with Performance Management team to develop management information reports and performance measurements that are timely and accurate.
  • Support the Performance Management team to communicate the findings of these reports and measurements to the other PPHG teams and to come up with action plan and proposed solution on the resolution of identified issues.
  • Perform regular review of monthly P&L, Balance Sheet and Director of Finance Checklist. Ensure that monthly reconciliations are performed for balance sheet accounts with particular emphasis on accounts receivable aging and bank reconciliations.

3. CAPEX Review and Approval

  • Undertakes the review and endorsement of CAPEX requests from PPHG owned properties in accordance with the CAPEX Approval Matrix before these are forwarded to the Owner for approval.
  • Review monthly CAPEX reports and annual budget submission.

4. Renovation Projects

  • Review and endorse evaluation papers, including ROI for renovation projects which are prepared by properties.

5. Business Partnership

  • Support and advise PPHG Management and Hotels on financial and business issues, including the interpretation of financial data.
  • Support business initiatives, major pricing decisions and other decision making.

6. Information Technology and Systems

  • Review and approve the implementation of new system and/or management tools (software) and/or the revisions to current system or tools.
  • Ensure the proper use and maintenance of Financial Accounting system.

7. Annual Business Plan and Rolling Forecast

  • Work together with Performance Management team to drive the annual business plan process for all hotels under PPHG in Singapore.
  • Review and work with all related parties to produce meaningful budgets and accurate forecasting.

The Person:

  • Degree in Accounting
  • Previous experience in a similar capacity in the hospitality industry or at least five years in a comparable position in another industry.
  • Sound business acumen

  • Good interpersonal skills
